Why the new skin? Well, I met this guy on Saturday night whilst I was installing my artwork over at the gallery in the Brighton City sim. Really nice guy with the hottest butt this side of SecondLIfe (as far as ‘puppet’ butts are concern.. hee hee hee). We spent the next few days exploring SecondLife and getting to know each other. So I thought to myself “hmmmmm… I’ll go human and make myself a set of new skins with a hot butt to match.”

I wanted to go all butch about it – Skin, clothes, anims….. I just ended up looking rather camp!!! Hahhahahha!!! I kinda like it though

So, what’s with the cruising? Well, in the search for clothes and shopping for shoes, I saw this sign for Hub’s Garage. The images on the sign looks cool… Sort of set in a dockyard kinda thing. Looks like a great build and wonderful textures. Without reading what it’s all about, I clicked on it and tp’d myself away.

WOAH!!! When I got there, the place was full of men!!! BUTCH MEN!!! I said to myself “I can do this.. I’ll just sashay my sexy little ‘puppet’ tush over to the boys and say hello!!”

I guess the boys weren’t exactly interested in conversation (I soon discovered that Cargo City is one BIG cruising grounds for gay sex!!!). I never really understood the thrill of sex in a virtual world of SecondLIfe – pressing buttons on your keyboard to make your avie go “oooooo.. ahhhhh” isn’t exactly my idea of sex. And since one’s avie is not anatomically correct, one has to go purchase a penis!! AS AN ATTACHMENT!!! hahhhahhahah. (btw, I do not own a penis. So, if you want to buy me one, I’ll be willing to give it a go… hee heeh ehee).

Not that I wanted to have a Facebook profile (I am very happy to be amongst the select few who still have NOT got onto the Facebook bandwagon!) but I had to. This is because I recently re-vamped his lordship’s business website and part of the marketing/pr smuck is to have links and presence on social networking sites – A business page on Facebook par exemple, ma puce.

So, there I go, along my way, setting up a business page on Facebook. But it doesn’t stop there, does it ?!! I wanted a spalsh page, beautify my wall, post direct from the blog, and tabs, and landing page and.. and.. and… I needed apps!! Nope, you can’t just hop along the next apps bus to the apps store and pick ‘n mix till your hearts delight… NOT THAT SIMPLE BOYO!! You have to have a… wait for it… A PROFILE PAGE!!!! Before most of this damn shite will work on your business page!!!

Off I go then – creating and updating my profile. Let’s face it – Your basic Facebook profile wall is shite!!! A preety face like me CAN’T possibly have that… What a bloody chore it is to have to log in Facebook EVERYTIME I have to update my whatchamecallit… Off on a hunt – Flickr integration? Got an app for that…. My tweets now talk to Facebook via TweetDeck, my blog talks to my tweets and post news to my Facebook. Everything runs preety much via TweetDeck and WordPress, and my iPhone preety much talks to everything (if only I can have a USB connection that plugs my iPhone directly to my brain…… We’re in business!!!).

With all these going-ons, I completely forgot what this whole exercise is about – his lordship’s business page on Facebook…. BOLLOCKS!!!

Well, perhaps Tilly/Timmy/whatever-her-name is new at the practice and didn’t know any better. Sheesh!! How long have we been going to your practice? Ben is 12 years old and Jazmyn is 9 this year, so making it 11 YEARS NOW that we have been coming to your practice!!! I have taken the dogs there on my own, his lordship has taken the dogs there himself, and we have both taken the dogs there. TOGETHER!! Surely it’s in your records (obviously not!!!) that Ben & Jazmyn, the gorgeous dalmatians, belong to Mr. Sanusi & Mr. Aspinwall. NOT MR. & MRS. ASPINWALL!!!!!! At what point in time did Mr. Sanusi get deleted from your database?? Huh?? …..Twat!!!

So, what’s making me so pissed off?

Why is it that heterosexual people have the need to resort to a heterosexual frame of reference when it comes to homosexual relationships – A traditional husband-wife role where one partner is “the man” and the other “the woman”. This smacks of the oft asked question of gay male couples, “Which one of you is the ‘woman,’” or, “Which one of you is the ‘wife’?”

This suggests that even a gay male couple must conform to straight norms in some way. We’re both men!! I find this imposed stereotypical image of masculine-feminine roles in a homosexual partnership disgusting & demeaning.

What? The “Mr” in a gay relationship is “the man”? The bread-winner? Performs the “masculine” household tasks? Takes on the male role in sexual behaviours and acts? Whilst the “Mrs” is the effeminate, limp-wristed “woman” who cooks, and perform other feminine tasks such as shopping or cleaning? The “Mrs” is the sexual “bottom” whilst the “Mr” is the sexual “top”??

Granted, some gay men are more masculine/feminine than others, but we DON’T choose a ‘male’ or ‘female’ role, especially not when we enter a relationship. How much more “masculine” or “feminine” we behave is only part of our genetic make-up. The more “masculine” of us do not specifically seek the more “feminine” to be our “wife”. Nor do the more “feminine” of us specifically seek out that butch, manly type for “husbands”. We find each other because we love each other.

Sheessh!!!!

I am always in support for local butchers and green grocers, and will always try to buy my meat and two veg from them rather than the supermarkets. Anyway, I walked in and bought some venison steaks from our local butcher.

Wild Men Ooga Ooga?? What’s that about??

Well, having bought these lovely, gorgeous venison steaks, I suddenly have images of spit roasted whole roe deer over a fire, circa 16th century Sherwood forest… Robin Hood and his Merry Men…. lol.. Wild Men Oooga Ooga Sexy Hunks or what?!!

So… What and how am I going to cook these lovely venison steaks? Haven’t got a clue. But I do know a great sauce I once made which I think will be great with it

Here’s the receipe for the sauce. It’s a nutty, fruity kinda sauce that goes well with wild game:

* a very large knob of butter (my friends know that Wardi doesn’t really measure when it comes to cooking)
* 60g(??) or so raisins, soaked in hot water for about 30 minutes. It’s ok if you forget how long you left them to soak because you got caught up watching the lastest episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
* 3 tablespoons pine nuts
* 1 teaspoon redcurrant jelly
* 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
* 1 glass red wine

To make the sauce, melt the butter in a frying pan over a medium–high heat and fry the drained raisins (oh yeah, forgot to tell you that you have to drain them raisins!!!) and the nuts for 3–4 minutes until the nuts are lightly toasted. Add the rest of the sauce ingredients to the pan. Simmer for 15 minutes until you have a lovely rich sauce. Add whatever juices you get from cooking/roasting/marinating the meats into the sauce. Usual salt & pepper to taste.

Great sauce, eh? So, will I make this sauce to go with my venison tonight? Nah!! Probably go for a curry

Anyway, we were talking about blog sites, in comparison to our own respective blog sites. (btw, his lordship never understood why the need to blog or the concept of blogging, “Why not just go get yourself a diary if it’s your own personal ramblings” said his lordship… Ignorant peasant!!!! LOL) Randy was suggesting that perhaps his blog lacks a certain direction – One minute haiku writing, next minute YouTubing, and the next getting all political and bothered etc etc.

I do admire blogs that carries a single “voice”… a political statement, or direction. A single theme that the blogger is passionate about – be it the arts, photography, sexual orientation… whatever. But do I find these sites interesting enough to regularly follow them, and not get bored after a little while??

It made me examine my own blog …….

When I started blogging, I wanted a blog just like everyone’s…. Clever writings, thought provoking essays, photography, video, music …. Even to the design of my blog – I wanted it to be like one of those wonderful, thought provoking blogs that has a purpose……..

But it wasn’t me!! I’m not clever, nor am I passionately politically inclined. I’m definitely not religious. I’m not overtly cynical. I’m not giggly-bubbly happy, nor am I a miserable bastard (except of course, when it comes to August every year… but that’s an entire blog site on it’s own!!). I don’t have a particular style. I’m not here to shout & rant about the breeding patterns of South American Budgerigars.

Then one day, I found this Sandbox template (which is the template design that I’m currently using, with a little tweak here and there) that says “Do blogs have to look like blogs?”. The design shouted out “Wardi!!! That’s so you!!!” …. Text, fonts, typeface, words just spilled all over the page – It says exactly what my blog is – MY RAMBLINGS!!! Of no particular reason, directions or purpose.

So… Why don’t I just go out and get myself a diary (as pointed out by his lordship)?? Because then I will no longer have a need for my MacBook Pro or the G5, my iPhone 3G, internet broadband at lightning speed…..

Many moons passed (and if you go by SecondLife day cycle, which is every four hours, THATS a lot of moons later ) and many moons later, we got to know each other better, we grew and became friends – good friends. We talked – about our lives, our dreams, art, music, the world, about things that mattered. We laughed, and most of all we shared. SecondLife is the medium, a means of communication, the bridge that brought us together. Though in the real physical world we both live in different parts of the world, through SecondLife we got to know each other and our friendship grew.

Mister Artist cared about the world. He was passionate about the state we are in. About humanity. He wrote music about love, of love. He chanted about peace. He painted canvases that weaved these intricacies.

It was through Mister Artist that I met the lovely Madam K (not long after Mister Artist and I met). We became friends – Three very individual personalities, yet each a vital cog in the wheel….. ok, maybe we don’t exactly run smoothly at times, and the wheel needs massive oiling, yada yada yada …. but we were there, as a unit, providing support for each other – sharing, creating, loving, caring, supporting.

About three weeks ago or so, things were kinda *shitty* for me – We’re talking MAJOR shitty here. Not just the I’ve-Just-Stepped-On-Shite-Whilst-Wearing-My-Best-Jimmy-Choos shitty, BUT MAJOR MAJOR shitty!!! Issues with life – HomeLife, WorkLife, SecondLife… all meshed together into one big GIGANTIC pile of shite!!!

Point is – Wardi was an emotional wreck. Yup!! C’est moi.

Whilst surfing the giant rollercoaster emotional waves, I decided to leave SecondLife (on hindsight, perhaps an indefinite leave of absent would be a better choice of words). So, I went in-world, called upon my two closest friends – Mister Artist and Madam K, and told them the news; That I am planning to leave SecondLife.

It didn’t go at all well.. it went horribly wrong. Mister Artist grew extremely angry and agitated, and left without even giving me a chance to explain – Why I had made such a decision, or what I had in mind, or planned. Madam K left shortly afterwards. I understand why they were angry, and perhaps found my news rather unsettling. I thought they are my closest friends – at least they could have given me the chance to explain and hear me out.

Anyway, the next day, I sent notecards and IMs to both Madam K and Mister Artist, hoping that we could all meet and talk. Madam K and I met up, and we had a very long talk………… Mister Artist, on the other hand, was still angry with me and refused to see/chat/have-anything-to-do with me (dismantling his recent art project from his gallery on the island, changing/reverting the land parcel of his gallery, and even deleting any references to the island/comments-I’ve-Made on his personal forum – all these on the very next day.).

People get angry. We are, afterall, only humans. We react and deal with situations differently and as best as we can. SecondLife may be a virtual metaverse, but the emotions and the friendships that I have build – for Mister Artist and Madam K – are real………….

It’s been two weeks now. I hardly go in-world these days, and if I do it’s just to clear IMs and what-nots. The island is still there – Nothing has changed much. Madam K is still on the island, and we talk when we happen to both be in-world. I still have not heard from Mister Artist.

My grandmother once said to me (God bless her soul in heaven): “Wardi, it takes time. And time, my child, heals all wounds.”

I love you Tony, and I miss you my friend.
